SAN DIEGO, California (May 2009)-Once again, San Diego Magazine awarded top choices to A.R. Valentien at The Lodge at Torrey Pines as one of the area’s finest restaurants. The exceptional and innovative restaurant received Best Hotel Dining selections from both the magazine’s editor Tom Blair and restaurant critic David Nelson.
In the A. R. Valentien kitchen, Chef Jeff Jackson directs a “market driven, seasonal approach” to procuring, preparing, and serving the best food available in the San Diego region. Using to advantage the abundance of independent small farms and orchards as well as local small fish and seafood companies, Chef Jackson’s artisan menus focus on the natural flavors and textures of superb foodstuffs.
Chef Jackson and Chef Timothy Kolanko, Chef de Cuisine, known for the Artisan Table dining experience where guests share a communal table and are served truly excellent dishes family style in this relaxed, intimate setting. The Artisan Table is offered each Thursday evening by reservation. Once each month, the Thursday evening dinner party expands to showcase California’s premier wineries at The Artisan Table Winemaker’s Dinner.
In 2008, foodie website epicurious.com honored A.R. Valentien among the top ten farm-to-table restaurants in the nation.
